My current job description includes the following:

  • To lead, oversee, supervise and inculcate good practice of credit and asset quality management within the IWS/WPB HSBC Malaysia.
  • To structure and develop credit products and services to cater for the both the financial and investment needs of IWS/WPB HSBC Malaysia clients.
  • Identify and analyze the trends and concentrations that could affect the risk and performance of the subsisting credit portfolios holding in IWS/WPB HSBC Malaysia.
  • To ensure that the Wealth Lending products of IWS/WPB HSBC Malaysia is continuously in compliance with all the applicable internal credit policies, procedures as well as laws and regulation that are governed under the purview of Bank Negara Malaysia ("BNM") and HSBC Group.
  • Developing and/or updating standards and procedures to ensure adherence to established policies by BNM.
  • Participating in credit product program review and approval process.
  • Dedicated product manager for all credit products within the IWS/WPB HSBC Malaysia universe.


Achievement:

  • Responsible for the successful launched of long awaited Wealth Lending product platform in IWS/WPB HSBC Bank Malaysia and HSBC Amanah. The first International Bank to launched an Islamic Wealth Financing product in Malaysia.
  • Responsible in driving of the Wealth Lending Day 2 Project for IWS/WPB HSBC Bank Malaysia and HSBC Amanah.
  • Responsible in driving of the BASEL 3.1Project for IWS/WPB HSBC Bank Malaysia and HSBC Amanah covering the Wealth Lending segment.

  • To advise and to inform our valued clients on the relevant changes and updates to be implemented by Federal Government and Tax Officials based on the latest Budgetary Announcement/ Budget Commentary Guide, which usually comprises changes in the tax rates, reliefs/allowances/incentives and newly imposed tax restrictions.
  • Our scope of duties also requires us to assist and advise our clients in the preparation and compilation of the necessary documents as required by the IRB for Tax Audit purposes.
  • We also serve as the official representative of our valued client when it comes to the verification and confirmation process on the availability of Tax Rebate as well as updates on the Tax Position of our clients with the IRB.

  • To take charge and analyze on a series of customer database through details analysis conducted on the spending pattern of our bank's valued customer with the assistance of a state of the art MIS system adopted by the bank to ensure that the losses conceived by the bank as a result of fraud cases detected are being kept at a minimal level.
  • This involves analysis to be done on the profile, trend and daily expenditure patterns of our valued customer as well as on comparison done with regards to the latest trend of fraud cases conceived by fellow financial institutions in the industry.
  • Apart from analysis, daily reporting also becomes part of my job routine which includes the reporting done on the number of cases closed daily, number of fraud cases detected / reported and the most important of all, the amount of losses conceived by the bank by the end of the day.
  • On top of that, my job description also requires me to liaise directly with the valued customer of our bank which fulfilled part of our obligation as front liner of the bank when confirming on the genuineness of the transaction triggered by the system adopted by the Bank.
  • We are also required to advise our valued customer on the necessary precaution to take and trend currently experienced by financial institutions on both domestic and international platform when dealing with fraud transaction.
  • Additional task assigned include detailed credit assessment done on customer’s credit profile for potential new customers/customers with existing loan facilities with our banking group that intend to upgrade on the existing credit line granted.
