YUSUF HAJI OTHMAN

I have started serving as a Senior Lecturer at the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah International Islamic University (formerly known as INSANIAH University College) from 1.11.2011. Entrusted with the responsibility of being the first Head of Diploma in Islamic Banking Program at Kulliyyah Muamalat from June 2012 until December 2013, I led the MQA Compliance Committee until successfully gaining full accreditation. I have also commanded the promotion team of the Diploma in Islamic Banking Program. As a result of the promotional efforts that I have implemented, our team was able to increase the number of students enrolment in the Diploma in Islamic Banking as the program with the largest number of students in Kulliyyah Muamalat.
I hold the position as the Deputy Dean of Graduate and Research of Kulliyyah of Muamalat from Jan. 2014 to Dec. 2018. During that period, I was responsible for heading committees to ensure that the Ph.D. in Islamic Finance and Banking, Master of Islamic Banking and Finance, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs were fully accredited. Thanks to Allah and the team, all three programs have been fully accredited. Apart from that, I was also responsible for leading the team to formulate, strategize and implement plans to offer two new programs, namely, Ph.D. in Management and Master of Management. Again, both programs have been approved by MQA and have been implemented since Dec. 2018.
Starting June 2021, I have held the responsibility as the Director of the Center for Islamic Finance Education and Research (CIFER). Currently, CIFER is implementing curriculum revisions for four programs, namely Master in Islamic Banking and Finance, Bachelor of Business Administration (Islamic Banking and Finance), Bachelor of Business Administration (Islamic Financial Planning), and Diploma in Islamic Banking. In addition, I have to lead the team to prepare MQA feedbacks for five programs, namely Ph.D. in Islamic Banking and Finance, Master in Islamic Banking and Finance, Bachelor of Business Administration (Islamic Banking and Finance), Bachelor of Business Administration (Islamic Financial Planning) and Diploma in Islamic Banking. In addition, CIFER has also completed document MQA01 for two new programs, namely Bachelor in Islamic Finance and Bachelor in Islamic Financial Planning, planned to be offered in the future.
During my service at the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah International Islamic University so far, I have successfully produced a total of 71 journal articles, 6 books, and 3 Chapters in Books. In addition, I have presented 26 papers in various national and international conferences that have contributed to the rise of the MYRA rating of the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah International Islamic University.
