ROY SOLOMON RICHARDSAMY

Safety and Health Deputy General Manager
Shah Alam, Selangor

Summary

An accomplished Safety and Health Officer with over 10 years of progressive experience driving Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management across telecommunications, construction, logistics, and warehousing sectors. Possess deep working knowledge of regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and best practices, with a consistent track record of designing, implementing, and sustaining safety management systems that deliver measurable compliance outcomes, operational excellence, and effective risk mitigation across varied environments.

This expertise is rooted in a career that began in Telecommunications in September 1997 at Lucent Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd as Customer Technical Support Engineer, Asia Pacific Regional Office, Kuala Lumpur — supporting Celcom and regional telecommunication operators with extensive regional travel. In December 2001, joined Motorola in Kuching, Sarawak, supporting TM Touch and Celcom in developing and upgrading state telecommunications networks and overseeing safety and site audit of telecommunication tower constructions, then relocating back to Kuala Lumpur in 2004 to support Maxis in the same engineering and safety capacities.

In 2008, was seconded into Safety & Health under the direct mentorship of Maxis's Safety Officer — marking the beginning of a parallel career path in occupational safety. From that point, carried dual responsibilities as both Engineer and Safety & Health Officer, progressively deepening HSE competency alongside core engineering duties through to departure from Nokia Siemens in 2013. This five-year dual-role period laid the practical foundation — spanning hazard management, compliance awareness, and field-level safety oversight in a live telecommunications network environment — for a full-time transition into Safety & Health, where the career has since been built and refined over more than a decade.
