The unit has a total of 9 beds of ICU and 2 beds of CCU with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2

Compressive Patients Management.

• Provided care to critically ill patients with conditions such as multi-system organ failure, severe infections, post cardiac arrest, complex surgical recovery, acute and chronic cardiac conditions including myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure and arrhythmias.
• Performed continues assessment including neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory evaluation and implemented evidence-based care plans.
• Managed post cardiac surgery patients including those undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacement and cardiac catheterization. Monitored for complication such as bleeding, infection, arrhythmias and provided timely interventions.
• Managed the intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)and coordinated with the surgical and cardiology teams to ensure optimal functioning and patient stability.
• Performed the Arterial Blood Gasses taking through direct puncture to monitor the acidosis, carbon dioxide and oxygen level under aseptic techniques.

Advanced Monitoring

• Utilized invasive and non-invasive monitoring tools, including arterial line and central venous pressure (CVP) catheters. Monitor the cardiac rhythms and electrocardiogram (ECG), oxygen saturation and hemodynamic parameters, adjusting care as necessary.
• Managed the intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)and coordinated with the surgical and cardiology teams to ensure optimal functioning and patient stability.

Emergency Response

• Actively participated in code blue situations, rapid response teams, and emergency resuscitation. Demonstrated expertise in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols including the defibrillation, intubation support and emergency medication administration.

Medications Administration

• Administered high alert medications such as vasoactive drugs, sedative and analgesics through various routes including IV infusion, drips and push. Ensured precise dosing, monitored for the adverse effects and adjusted based on patient response.

Ventilator Managements

• Manage patients on mechanical ventilation and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) including the setting ventilator parameters, performing weaning trials and troubleshooting the ventilator alarms. Collaborated with respiratory therapist to optimize the respiratory support.

Critical Procedures

• Assisted with and performed critical procedures including central line insertion, arterial line placement and bedside bronchoscopy, OGDS/Colonoscopy. Ensure sterile technique and adherence to protocol to prevent complications such as Catheter Associated Blood Stream Infection (CLABSI) and Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP)
• Managing and handling the patient that requires Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Assisting in bedside Under Water Sealed Drains insertion (UWSD), Assisting in bedside Lumbar Puncture (LP) procedure.

Patient and Family Education

• Educate the patients and families on the disease processes, treatment option and post discharge care. Provide emotional support and facilitated communications between patients, families and the healthcare team.
• Acted as a patient advocate, ensuring that care decisions respected patient and family wishes. Facilitated end of life care discussions and supported families through the decision making process.

Documentation

• Maintaining and documenting assessments, interventions and patient responses. Ensure the accuracy and compliance with regulatory and facilities standards.

Interdisciplinary

• Collaborations with the physician, pharmacist, physical therapist and social workers to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
• Participated in daily rounds and care conferences to optimize patients’ outcomes.
• Provided advance wound care for patients with extensive surgical site, pressure ulcers and others complex wound. Applied specialized dressing and collaborated with wound care specialist
