Role Overview:

As an Assistant Engineer specializing in Trainborne Surveillance Systems (TVSS), I am responsible for testing, commissioning, and integrating advanced surveillance solutions on trains operating on the Downtown, Thomson, and Circle lines. My role includes installing, configuring, and troubleshooting various devices and systems to ensure smooth operation and improved security.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Testing and Commissioning:

Perform thorough testing and commissioning of trainborne surveillance systems in coordination with the LTA to ensure full functionality and compliance with relevant standards.

2. System Installation:

Install and set up essential equipment, including analog and IP cameras, switches, digital and network video recorders, access points, fiber optic cable, and other related hardware.

3. Electrical and Electronic Support:

Use fundamental electrical and electronic skills to assist with system operation and troubleshooting.

4.Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and resolve issues related to network connectivity (routing, switching, IP, Wi-Fi, fiber optic cables), basic electrical/electronic components, and system integration challenges.

5. Network Management:

Apply networking concepts such as LAN, VLAN, and WLAN to maintain and optimize system performance.

6. Logistics Management:

Manage logistics for testing, commissioning equipment, and system deployment.

7. Team Supervision:

Lead and coordinate a small team of 2 to 5 personnel, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

1. Preventive Maintenance:

Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to extend equipment lifespan and minimize unexpected breakdowns.

2. Project Management:

Manage and participate in facility improvement projects, renovations, and expansions from planning through to execution.

3. Technical Skills:

Apply expertise with specialized tools and equipment related to electrical, plumbing, lift, HVAC, and control systems.

4. Leadership and training:

Mentor and train junior maintenance staff by sharing knowledge and best practices.

5. Vendor Management:

Collaborate with external vendors and contractors by assessing performance, negotiating contracts, and ensuring quality, and cost-effectiveness.

6. Order Coordination:

Coordinate purchase requisitions and orders, working closely with procurement and finance teams to secure timely, cost-effective resources.

7. Energy Efficiency:

Implement energy-saving practices and technologies to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
