Lead ITR Service Engineer

GE Vernova
Kuala Lumpur
02.2021 - Current
  • Successfully implemented multiple ST upgrade solutions (FAC, Valve, ST enhancements etc.) to many GE Vernova clients across the region.
  • Supported many steam turbine outages across the APAC region on GE and non‑GE installed fleets, ensuring unit safety and reliability through timely, high‑quality engineering resolutions and implementation of TILs & recommendations.
  • Partnered with customers to recommend tailored products and service solutions that supported business growth while maximizing unit reliability and operational availability.
  • Managed end‑to‑end engineering execution (enquiry to order completion) for regional service, minor & major upgrade projects, conducting customer design reviews and participated all GE Vernova internal design reviews to ensure technical compliance, risk mitigation, and on‑time delivery.

Lead Engineer

GE POWER INDIA LTD.
11.2016 - 01.2021
  • Established spare parts supply capability for non-OEM steam turbines (SEC, DEC, BZD, LMZ) in India through reverse engineering, expanding service coverage.
  • Achieved successful project outcomes by maintaining accurate documentation on services & retrofits projects (e.g NTPC Ramagundam) and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Accelerated spare parts execution by releasing PROs in RPDM on time for OEM and non-OEM fleets, improving order fulfillment and business responsiveness.
  • Enabled successful bidding for spare parts, outages, and steam turbine repairs by partnering with Tendering and Sourcing teams, proactively identifying and contractually mitigating technical risks through regular risk reviews (R0, R1...).
  • Led data-capture campaigns across India and overseas to support reverse-engineered steam turbine spare parts development, strengthening technical accuracy and part readiness.
  • Built and mentored high-performing engineering teams, guiding fresh engineers through the full steam turbine component development lifecycle—from data capture and manufacturing documentation to NCR resolution and installation—ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery.
  • Defined repair scopes and execution strategies through on-site assessments at power plants, improving repair accuracy, cost control, and outage planning.
  • Contributed to global captured-data management platform development, improving accessibility, standardization, and reuse of reverse-engineering data across regions.
  • Owned material master creation and coding in PowerMax (SAP) for the India region, ensuring accurate part traceability and seamless integration with supply chain and procurement processes.

Deputy Manager

Alstom India Ltd.
Vadodara, Gujarat
08.2012 - 11.2016
  • Worked extensively on steam turbine (ST) component development involving geometrical reconstruction, material identification, and application in compliance with GE and international standards, supported by TRS and e‑folder documentation.
  • Owned end‑to‑end engineering deliverables for Production Orders (PROs), including ITPs, 3D models, detailed drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and complete manufacturing documentation.
  • Provided engineering support to Service Engineers during OEM and o‑OEM turbine outage activities, ensuring timely technical resolution across multiple sites in India
  • Supported technology transfer from ALSTOM Poland (LMZ and Zamech ST units) and ALSTOM Mannheim (RT units) installed in India, enabling the local engineering team to independently support outage execution and spare parts supply.

Service Engineer

Alstom India Ltd.
Vadodara, Gujarat
07.2007 - 08.2012
  • Delivered engineering support for steam turbine repairs (Blading, rotor straightening etc.) at ALSTOM Vadodara, covering repair drawings, tooling design, ITPs, and BOM preparation.

Education

Bachelor of Science - Mechanical Engineering

Zakir Hussain College of Engineering & Technology, Aligarh Muslim Unversity
08.2003 - 06.2007

Thesis on " ANN Modeling of Surface Finish "

I have trained an Artificial Neural Network using back propagation algorithm for the prediction of surface finish with the help of MATLAB 7.0.1. My input for the ANN training was parameters: speed of machining, feed & depth of cut which was randomly generated through C-programming. My target for the training was the Surface Roughness (Ra) measured experimentally on Surface Measuring Instrument called Microscope B.K.70X50 on a CNC turned MS (Mild Steel) specimen using carbide cutting tool by varying machining parameters: speed of machining, feed & depth of cut

Accomplishments

  • Developed and implemented an oOEM readiness dashboard, enabling sales and engineering teams to assess technical feasibility and business readiness for lifecycle services, retrofit, and spare parts opportunities.
  • Led a cross‑functional engineering team in the development and supply of a 500 MW Siemens‑design LP rotor through reverse engineering, supporting life‑extension, OEM replacement, and long‑term service strategies.
  • Developed and supplied a complete 10.2 MW BFPT rotor for a 600 MW unit, utilizing OEM blade roots and in‑kind interfaces, ensuring form‑fit‑function compliance with existing turbine designs, with support from the GE Baden Blading team.
  • Developed and supplied free‑standing LSBs for 210 MW‑class units, aligned with Siemens design standards, delivering cost‑effective retrofit solutions for aging steam turbine fleets.
  • Developed and supplied complete HP and IP rotors for 210 MW LMZ STs, LP last‑stage diaphragms, and critical steam turbine components for other Chinese (SEC/DEC ) units, using reverse engineering and licensed technology transfer (ToT) from GE Poland (Elbląg) to ensure OEM‑equivalent performance and reliability.
  • Participated in and delivered training under international technology transfer programs, supporting design localization, engineering capability build‑up, and technology decentralization from Europe (Poland, Rugby, Mannheim) to India—aligned with global engineering center models.
