Department Description

The department that I am working currently working is In-Service Training & Education Department. Continuous training and education plays an important role for nurses, in ensuring the nurses able to carry out their task effectively and efficiently, improve patient outcomes, decrease the chances of errors. To achieve the objective, orientation and structured learning program training plays important roles for the nurses who is newly graduate or newly employed into the organization. And the key essential process usually is composed of five stages: planning, analysis, design, implementation and development with targeted time frame. A successful and well design structured learning program, will aligned with their performance, competency level, professional skills among the nursing staffs.

Duties Responsibilities

My duty in general, is to assist the integration, learning and adaptation of staff nurse & assistant nurse (newly employed/ transfer from other dept) into the workforce. Deputize In-service Training & Education Nurse Manager during her absence, assist in planning of staff training needs, manpower planning, develop yearly training plan for In-service Training & Education department. In-service training & education is a professional and personal educational activity for all the nurses to improve and maintain the high standard of care to patients’, keeping them up-to-date on clinical nursing knowledge according to evidence based practices. Therefore, continuous nurses’ education (CNE) will be schedule every month, for at least 2-3 session/week. And the topic will be arrange according to the best interest, training needs of the nurses. Specific Duties Responsibilities

Plan and conduct Nursing orientation program. For new graduates, and newly on board staffs. Plan, develop, organize and teach in the following programs: Specialize area Core Skills- ICU/HDU Assist and ensure all staff achieve their competency (credential & Privileging) in ICU/HDU Ensure compliance of Nursing Practices & Infection Control Policies & MSQH Evaluate the clinical performance of staff- ICU/HDU Mentoring & coaching new staff in ICU/HDU on management and care of the patient case to case basis. Recommend procedure/policy/protocol for improvement related to the latest clinical evidence base research. Update, feedback and discuss with nursing HODs on staff progress and specific learning needs. Work closely with nursing HODs in planning for yearly training program for all nursing staffs. Serve as role model for education & professional nursing practice, promotes the concept of critical thinking. Take part in hospital quality and accreditation activities.

Icu Hdu Description

ICU/CCU and HDU in Tung Shin Hospital, are providing acute and intensive care to Critical ill patient. There are 4 ICU bed, 4 HDU and 2 Isolation room available. This ICU and HDU provide acute critical care to patient presenting with Respiratory failure who needs ventilation support and critical cases related to medical, cardiac, neuro, nephrology, gastrointestinal, ENT, orthopaedic and O&G. Nurse: Patient ratio in ICU is 1:1 or 1:2 depends on cases. Patient ratio in HDU is 1:2 or 1:4 depends on cases.
