Maybank Tech Refresh, 2014, 2015, Planning and executing the Tech Refresh project for Maybank Berhad. The migration consist of 100 host and involves 2 CX4. Various migration technique has been used to achieve the objective to migrate all the servers. Tools such as Open Replicator, SAN copy, AIX LVM, VxVM, Open Migrator were used to perform the migration. Preparing the migration checklist for each every migration for the change committee. Also, have stand in as a Resident Engineer for Maybank when it’s required. In total, have done 2 years for residency duty for Maybank. Maybank Tech Refresh project, 2016, 2017, Planning and executing the Tech Refresh project for Maybank Berhad. The migration consist of 300 host and involves CX4, VNX, DMX and VMAX40K. Planning involves getting EMC Grabs and analysing each and every host. This includes understanding how the storage being used as (VxVM, LVM or RAW) device. Planning also includes the study of compatibility matrix for each and every servers. In terms of host – storage compatibility and also host - SAN switch compatibility. Planning for the new array also has to be done in terms of studying the FA port utilization. To make sure all the FA’s are used in balanced manner and no performance issue will arise once the migration is done. Studying the host software such as Powerpath for storage compatibility. Planning also involves, prioritizing of servers and strategizing the overall migration plan. In terms of which servers should be migrated first based on application tier and business urgency. Briefing application owners on how each migration will be done and what are the benefits for them. Also, show them the detailed migration plan and failover steps in case if migration fails. Various migration technique has been used to achieve the objective to migrate all the servers. Tools such as Open Replicator, SAN copy, AIX LVM, VxVM, Open Migrator were used to perform the migration. Apart from Storage, the SAN switch migration also need to be done concurrently. (Cisco MDS9710) Leading the migration team from EMC point of view (Scheduling, Deciding the migration tool and approach, Assigning task to team members, verify their steps are correct before being executed, meeting application owner to get the downtime, present performance improvement.) Preparing the migration checklist for each every migration for the change committee. This will include all the migration steps for the change committee to understand the migration flow. Planning and executing the ISL for the N5K switches for the new SAN environment. Start up the initial copy prior to the cutover downtime. (Open Replicator initial sync / LVM VG mirror/ VXVM plex mirror). Perform pre migration check before cutover is done. Make sure cutover is done in a clean manner and there is no issues with the migrated data. Once data migration is complete, create SRDF replication to DR site for business continuity purpose. Provide weekly update to migration committee to track the project status, discuss issues raised during the migration. Provide monthly update to application owners / stake holders, IT head and PL leads on the improvement achieved in terms of storage performance. Maybank Everest project - Datacentre Relocation, 2018, Leading the project execution from DELL / EMC point of view. Planning the whole storage replication to the new storage array in the new Datacentre. Planning and executing the storage migration for the New DC. Setup the new array and SAN environment for the New DC. Replication tools such as SRDF and Recover Point used to setup the new DR site.
