I graduated with a Diploma in Nursing in 2012 and began my career as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Assunta Hospital, where I served for seven years and obtained a Post Basic qualification in Intensive Care. I later transitioned to an international career with Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises, starting as a Registered Nurse before being promoted to Nurse Manager.
My decision to work overseas was driven by the desire to broaden my exposure to diverse medical practices, cultures, and healthcare systems beyond Malaysia. With my ICU training and expertise, I have been able to effectively manage medical emergencies in challenging environments at sea, often with limited facilities, while collaborating with doctors from various countries. This experience has strengthened my clinical judgment, adaptability, and leadership skills, and expanded my knowledge of international policies, standards, and medical care practices.
I graduated with a Diploma in Nursing in 2012 and began my career as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Assunta Hospital. Over the course of seven years, I obtained a Post Basic qualification in Intensive Care and was subsequently promoted to Senior Staff Nurse. During my tenure in the ICU, I was also assigned to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) and the Emergency Unit, allowing me to broaden my clinical expertise through cross-departmental exposure. In addition, I was privileged to serve as a mentor, training nursing students and newly graduated staff nurses, which further strengthened my leadership, teaching, and preceptorship skills.During my years in the ICU at Assunta Hospital, I gained extensive hands-on experience managing a wide range of critical cases, including post-coronary bypass patients, stroke cases, craniectomy recovery, ventilated patients, as well as those requiring advanced life-support therapies such as Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). These years of dedication and hard work provided me with invaluable skills, knowledge, and resilience that continue to serve as a strong foundation in my nursing career.
