I am a passionate and dedicated registered Nurse, I completed the BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing alongside completing the level 5 apprenticeship course. I have worked on a busy neurosurgical ward throughout my training, then became a registered Community Nurse. This allowed me to promote a healthier lifestyle for patients by encouraging independence and self-care.

Community Staff Nurse

  • In this role, I am able to assess patients' ongoing wellbeing and to recognise any signs and symptoms of deterioration within their health.
  • Alongside catering to their complex needs and carrying out any changes as necessary, I have developed trusted report with patients and family members through open and honest communication.
  • My time management and organisational skills have developed from this role, meaning that I always deliver a holistic and person-centred approach to patients within a timely manner.
  • I have gained a range of clinical skills to allow me to support patients and meet their needs.
  • I have the ability to review a wound and to take the most appropriate action whether this is to discharge the wound as it is healed, to obtain a swab and contact the GP for antibiotics due to the signs of infection or to apply dressings that will promote healing and prevent future infections.
  • To support local GP practices, I have completed my venepuncture course allowing me to obtain bloods when it is required.
  • Another skill I have obtained is to remove sutures post-surgery and to recognise if the wound has healed or whether further action is needed.
  • To allow me to assess a patients ongoing wellbeing and record this, I have experience in using 'system one'.
  • I can support patients who have bladder and bowel problems.
  • I am able to catheterise both male and female or change suprapubic catheters.
  • Also I can assess a patient who may be experiencing bowel problems and supporting them with an enema or trans anal irrigation.

  • I started my career within the hospital as a Healthcare Assistance, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to become a Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice (RNDA).
  • I worked for three years on the Neurosurgical ward providing bed side care and support to patients with possibly life changing diagnoses.
  • I worked closely with multi-disciplinary teams to provide consistent communication and continue to deliver the best care to patients.
  • During my time on the ward I learnt and developed a range of skills that I will use throughout my nursing career.
  • I supported patients to ensure their personal care needs were met.
  • I facilitated with patient admissions, transfers and discharges while resolving possible conflicts and grievances and carrying out various tasks to support other members of staff.
  • When a medical emergency occurred, I worked calmly, quickly and professionally under pressure.
  • Whilst I was completing the apprenticeship, I had various placements in different areas of the health service.
  • I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to work on the Children’s ward at Hull Royal Infirmary for a couple of months, this is where I gained a passion for not only caring and supporting adults and their families.
  • I gained a passion in caring for children of all ages, from babies that was unable to feed to children with eating disorders and cancer diagnoses.

  • I worked as a Dental Nurse at this family practice for a period of time alongside studying 'The University Certificate in Health and Social Care Practice' course at the University of Hull to allow me to pursue a career within Nursing.
  • During my time at this practice, I arranged appointments using an online booking system.
  • Provided excellent patient care from arrival to completion of treatment.
  • I worked as part of a small team, communicating effectively and efficiently to ensure patients received the best care.
  • Also I prepared well equipped treatment rooms for dental procedures, ensuring that accurate and efficient decontamination and sterilisation was carried out with dental devices for continued hygiene compliances.

Trainee Dental Nurse

  • Whilst working full time at this practice, I also completed a Level 3 diploma in Dental Nursing with Learn Direct as part of an apprenticeship scheme.
  • During this role, I worked on the reception of the dental practice managing appointments and answering the phone to any dental emergencies or concerns.
  • I also worked with various members of the team such as a Dentist or a Dental Therapist to deliver and provide professional chair side assistance following instructions and avoiding errors that could occur.

Additional Information

I have taken a recent career break from November 2024 until May 2025 to travel around South East Asia visiting: Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia. I am grateful for this opportunity as it has broadened my perspective and allowed me to developed a deeper understanding of various cultures, beliefs and values.


In 2019, I spent three months working on a summer camp in America as a lifeguard before travelling across America from New York to San Francisco.
