Summary

16 years’ experience in the field of Technical Safety & Loss Prevention for Bidding, FEED and Detail Design Phase for FPSO Projects in Oil & Gas Industry. Responsible for preparation of loss prevention deliverables such as Firewater Demand Calculation, Firewater Hydraulic Analysis, Flare Radiation & Dispersion Studies, Hazardous Area Schedule, Safety Layouts and Firewater P&IDs. Well familiar with various engineering and commercial software such as PHAST, PIPENET, Flaresim and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).   • Execution of loss prevention/technical safety engineering deliverables such as fire water demand calculation, gas dispersion and radiation study, hazardous area schedule, safety layouts etc to ensure safe, fit-for-purpose, robust and cost effective Topside and Marine and utility design and operation during engineering Bid or FEED phase.
  • Execute preparation of Master Deliverable Register (MDR), Safety Design Philosophy/Basis of Design, Specifications and Scope of Work for third party safety studies subcontractors.
  • Coordination of internal safety workshops (i.e. HAZID/ HAZOP/ LOPA) and review of safety assessment report at concept/bid phase, Engineering Definition and FEED review.

Safety & Loss Prevention Engineer

  • Prepare Hazardous Area Schedule and Drawings for FPSO and Turret in accordance to hazardous area classification requirement from API RP 505 and SBM Group Technical Standard.
  • Prepare Firewater System P&IDs with reference from previous projects and client’s requirements.
  • Research on the impacts of Passive Fire Protection and heat shielding based on Technical Qualification review.
  • Revise Hazardous Area Schedule and Drawings as per client’s requirements.
  • Anticipate in the discussion on location of firewater monitor with Marine Piping department and communicating with vendor for monitor specification.
  • Assist Lead Engineer for preparing Firewater System Utility Flow Diagram (UFD) and Firewater/Foam P&IDs.
  • Determine suitable sizing of Firewater Pump and foam pump through Firewater / Foam Demand Calculation Report.
  • Perform line sizing calculation based on the allowable velocity limit in accordance to client’s General Specification.
  • Prepare datasheet for Firewater Pump and Jockey Pump based on vendor specification and requirement from NFPA 20.
  • Incorporate all clients’ comments and marked-up any changes for all Safety Deliverables.
  • Liaise with Engineering Project Manager ensuring that the deliverables submissions are on track as recorded in Master Document Register (MDR).
  • Liaise with all engineering disciplines to obtain the FPSO surface area required to be protected with Passive Fire Protection (PFP).
  • Prepare Hazardous Area Drawings in accordance to Hazardous Area Classification requirement from IP 15 and clients’ General Specification.
  • Assist Lead Engineer for preparing Derogation and Technical Clarification for any deviations from clients’ requirement related to Technical Safety.
  • Appointed as a deputy to the Lead Engineer by attending project weekly meetings.
  • Anticipate the layout and PDMS Review Meeting with all other disciplines.
  • Develop Fire Zone Drawings to ensure that the areas within the FPSO are well separated with different types of risks and to limit the probability of escalation.
  • Involved in the Passive Fire Protection MTO and BOQ meetings.
  • Prepare Escape Route Drawings in accordance to Corporate Engineering Standard (CES) requirement.
  • Determine the suitable sizing for the Firewater Pump and foam pump through Firewater/Foam Demand.
  • Determine Firewater / Foam Demand Calculation and Deluge distribution system in accordance with NFPA 11, 13, 15 & 16.
  • Perform Firewater Hydraulic Analysis using Pipenet DNV Software.
  • Perform Flare-flame Out Dispersion and Cargo Vent Dispersion Calculation Report by using Phast Software and Flaresim in order to determine the suitable flare stack and IG vent stack height.
  • Work closely with piping discipline for the scope of firewater ring main routing throughout the FPSO.
  • Prepare Safety Line List, Manual Valve List and Special Piping Item List with reference to the firewater P&IDs.
  • Develop Fire Control Plan and Safety Plan to ensure that all the safety and firefighting equipment, type and quantities are compliant with the Corporate Engineering Standard requirement.
  • Perform Hazardous Area Schedule for Topsides, Vessel and Turret compliant with API 505.
  • Update Fire Zone and Fire Protection Layout in accordance with the project Safety and Loss Prevention Philosophy.
  • Prepare Emission Identification Study Report to identify and quantify emission and discharges to the environment for FPSO facility.
  • Attended the as-building activities in Keppel Shipyard, Singapore.
