

Reporting to the Head of the Accident and Emergency Department, is responsible for the day to day diagnosis and management of patients across critical, high risk and non-critical zones, with a dedicated zone for respiratory illness and COVID-19 patients, the provision of a high standard of patient care, and the supervision of the teaching and practice of senior house officers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Clinical Aspects
1. Patient Treatment
Examination, diagnosing and appropriate treatment and stabilization for each patient prior discharge or referral to primary team, either intra-hospital or inter-hospital
2. Surgery and Procedures
a. Experienced in performing emergency procedures as clinically indicated, including non-invasive ventilation, endotracheal intubation and ventilator settings, needle thoracentesis, tube thoracotomy, central venous line and catheter insertion, and point of care ultrasound.
b. Perform minor procedures and minor surgeries such as suturing, abscess drainage, foreign body removal, eye irrigation, COVID-19 test swabbing
3. Training, Education and Administration
a. Discuss and provide practical training and guidance to a placed graduate training medical officer in relevant departments (especially for clinical specialists).
b. Attend and actively participate in training and education provided at the departmental level and hospitals.
c. Attend club journal and house officers presentation every week.
d. Writing up medical reports.
Compulsory training programme of the Ministry of Health of Malaysia for all new medical graduates. Comprised of 6 rotations of 4 months in length each, consisting of Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Medicine, Accident and Emergency, and Paediatrics.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Patient Treatment
Responsibility includes caring of patients both in an inpatient ward setting and outpatient clinic setting, comprising of history taking, physical examination, diagnosis and formulation of treatment plans, under the supervision of senior house officer, medical officers and specialists.
2. Training, Education and Administration
Weekly attendance and active participation in training and education provided at the departmental level.
3. Leadership roles
Leadership roles include being Head of House Officers during Obstetrics and Gynaecology rotation, with duties including planning and organizing house officers weekly duty roster, debriefing and orientation of new house officers into the department, and facilitating and conducting dialogues between house officers with medical officers and specialist regarding work related issues
